Hi, I’m Alice Adobe. I have a great story to share with you here at Adobe Dreams about how I built my own home from the ground that we walk on!
Over the years while I’ve been making thousands of bricks I have been asked many questions. Here is a list of a few of my favorites.
Alice Has a Mission to Accomplish
Alice Adobe and her friend Alvarado Avocado have been using a pick and shovel to mine the select clay soil from the south slope of Palomar Mountain. I smell smoke in the air.
Oh! Look over the ridge a big brush fire is burning this way. Good thing we’re prepared! We cleared the weeds for 50 feet in all directions of our adobe brick site. So lets wet everything with water, the rows of drying bricks are fire proof. Since our bricks and site are safe lets go help the fire fighters…

This is actually training for the whole Enlightened Being. Understanding the simplicity of creating a brick and providing for ones self. Conceptually adobe dreams began 50 years ago in the sand box under the shade of a huge loquat tree. Alice carefully studied particle size, shape and attraction when mixed with water. Alice was quite delighted when some of the patties of earth and water dried in the sun and became hard as a rock. Alice spent most of her days this way. Mothers, Grandmothers, Great Grandmothers and Aunts would gather around Alice in the sandbox to share the cool shade of the big loquat tree. In their comforting way the stories would be told and retold of the history of our people living in harmony with Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Alice’s heart grew strong with love for the Earth and her generous provisions. Years went by and Alice grew. Her need for a home for the family became a priority and the vision of hand made adobe bricks becoming a home was manifested in the early 1980’s.
